| This course is geared to the
novice or beginner computer user. Parts of the computer system will be
shown and explained. You will learn about Windows and how to effectively
work with it. Basic word processing functions will be taught using
Microsoft Word. We will cover many of the issues and ramifications facing
all computer users who use the Internet and/or E-mail, whether you are a new
or experienced user. The features of Internet Explorer will be taught as
well as how to make Internet searching more efficient. We will explore many
different websites.

| Course participants should have
some familiarity with computer basics and Windows. We will review
introductory Microsoft Word functions and learn more advanced aspects of
this powerful program including working with fonts, colors, Wordart,
graphics (including Clipart and Autoshapes), templates, tabs, numbering,
bulleting, borders, headers and footers, text boxes, tables, auto-text, and
mail merge (for form letters and labels). In Microsoft Access we will
create a database, learn how to manipulate fields, work with rows and
columns (insert, delete, and change field names), make reports including
label reports, create database mailing labels, and do queries. In Excel, we
will create a spreadsheet, do formula calculations, format (dollars, decimal
places, percent, etc.), and create charts from our spreadsheet. During our
class time, we will often integrate two or more of these applications
together. Emphasis is on advanced Word functions along with an introduction
to databases and spreadsheets. Fee $135 |
